Alan Garland
Vice President
Alan grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He attended
The University of Illinois and Roosevelt University where he
received a B.S. in marketing in 1959. In 1962, Alan received a
J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. After
Law School, Alan worked for the Internal Revenue Service as an
estate and gift tax attorney before entering private practice in
1964. Since joining the firm in August, 1976,
Alan has headed up the firm's estate planning and probate and
trust administration group and previously served as a director of
the firm. He is currently a Vice President and Assistant Secretary
of the firm. Alan also is a trustee of the Berger, Newmark and
Fenchel P.C. Profit Sharing Trust. Alan's areas of practice
include estate planning, probate and trust administration.
Alan is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council and the
Northwest Suburban Estate Planning Council (where he served as a
director). He is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association
(where he served on the Probate Practice Committee) and the
Illinois State Bar Association. Through the years, Alan has
lectured at estate planning seminars to diverse groups.
Alan currently serves as First Vice-President and Director of the
Parkinson's Disease Research Society. Alan and
his wife, June, spend their free time trying to keep up with their
two children and seven grandchildren as well as trying to find time
for travel and golf. |
